Experience an evening of deeply expressive music that blends lyricism, spirituality, and powerful storytelling. This program invites you into sound worlds that feel both intimate and transcendent, from shimmering orchestral colors to bold contemporary voices.

You’ll hear the world premiere of a new version of Carter Pann’s My Cross, performed by acclaimed saxophonist and ASU professor Christopher Creviston, alongside Gabriela Lena Frank’s vibrant Concertino Cusqueño, which intertwines Britten-inspired rhythms with a sacred melody from Cusco. Be among the first to discover a new work by Cheng Jin Koh, this year’s Composition Fellow, as well as Victoria Polevá’s Bucha: Lacrimosa—a moving reflection that balances grief with hope. The evening culminates with Sibelius’ Symphony No. 6, a work the composer described as “pure spring water,” offering clarity and calm in contrast to the densely orchestrated sounds of his time.

If you’re drawn to music that stirs the soul and sparks the imagination, this concert is one you won’t want to miss.

This project is partially funded by the City of TempeCommunity Arts Grant
