Docents

We are always on the look out for new docent volunteers!

The Docent Volunteer Program is a fun and vibrant extension of the Gallery at TCA programs. Many of the TCA docents are local community members with a interest in the arts and a big heart for community engagement. Many docents serve as tour guides and gallery greeters and enjoy speaking with visitors from all over the country and beyond.

*No prior experience is necessary. Just enthusiasm and some free time to spare!

Basic requirements: The minimum age is 18 years. Time commitments vary. Fingerprint background checks required.

Volunteers

Some volunteers choose to work behind the scenes at the Gallery. Light carpentry, painting and basic office and computer skills are always helpful. Let us know your interests and skills and we'll do our best to match you with an upcoming project or two!

Interns

The Gallery at TCA does accept applications for internships for high school (junior or senior year) or college level art or museum studies students. Gallery at TCA internships give future artists and professionals the opportunity to try on museum work for size. Duties include research for upcoming exhibitions, artist correspondence, display installation and art handling. Each internship is unique to the skills and interests of the individual. (Internship opportunities are limited and competitive. Apply at least 2 months prior to your intended target date.)

Internships are carried out over one semester or one summer. We require interns to complete a total 140 hours during that timeframe. We also require high school and/or college students complete the internship for class credit or under the supervision of a teacher at their school. Gallery at TCA internships are not paid positions but we treat them as a job experience.

To apply for an internship, submit the following documents via email:

  • Resume with contact information
  • 1 page letter of interest
  • Contact information (email and phone) for 2 References
One reference should be a current teacher.
  • 2 page writing sample. May come from a recent essay or paper.
